Vinegar may be a popular household cleaner, but it isn't suitable for every surface. Avoid using vinegar and soap on marble, limestone, travertine, some sealed granite, wood, electronics, car leather, raw egg spills and certain natural-stone tiles. Vinegar can damage finishes, etch stone or react with materials. Never mix vinegar with bleach, as the combination can release dangerous chlorine gas. Choosing surface-specific cleaners can prevent costly damage.
