Assam moves to streamline agarwood industry, boost exports and downstream manufacturing

Assam is moving to expand its agarwood industry by simplifying regulations, speeding up export permissions and strengthening cultivation, processing and quality testing. The state plans an International Agar Trade Centre and wants to promote high-value products such as perfumes, essential oils and cosmetics. The measures aim to boost farmer incomes, attract investment, increase exports and establish Assam as a global agarwood hub.
