Walmart finally starts offering contactless payment after years of complaints

The tap-to-pay feature will expand to all U.S. stores and clubs by the end of 2026, with plans to reach fuel stations by mid-2027. Walmart was one of the last major U.S. retailers without tap to pay, previously requiring shoppers to use physical cards or QR code scans via Walmart Pay. The retailer also recently launched a drone delivery operation with Wing in Central Florida, delivering items in under 30 minutes to over 50,000 locations. Walmart plans to open approximately 20 new stores and remodel 650 existing locations between 2026 and 2027 to enhance the customer experience.
