US Open: Serena and Venus Williams given wildcard to play in women’s doubles

The sisters, who have won 14 major doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals together, last played doubles at Flushing Meadows in 2022. Serena Williams returned to tennis this summer, recently competing in mixed doubles with Carlos Alcaraz alongside her renewed partnership with Venus. Venus Williams has also received a wildcard for the women's singles tournament, though Serena will not be competing in the singles draw. The pair are scheduled to begin their US Open doubles campaign on either 3 or 4 September, with the final taking place on 11 September.
