Jump to contentAllNewsSportCultureLifestyleA 52-year-old suspect has been arrested following a high-speed chase off the coast of Ibiza after allegedly stealing a flagship speedboat valued at £855,000 from Port de Sóller harbour. The charter firm tracked the stolen vessel using onboard technology south towards the islet of Tagomago before alerting the Spanish Civil Guard to its location. Dramatic aerial footage shows the driver steering recklessly at full throttle for nearly 30 minutes, ignoring direct orders to stop and repeatedly ramming into a coastguard patrol boat. Armed officers from the Spanish Civil Guard intercepted the craft using a surveillance helicopter and two patrol boats, boarding the vessel once the suspect finally cut the engines. The suspect faces charges of boat theft, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest, whilst authorities continue to investigate how the boat was taken and the role of a woman found aboard.
