Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Egypt for the first time in 10 years, returning to North Africa as Beijing expands its trade, technology and defence ties with one of the continent’s most strategically important countries

Chinas Liberation Army Air Force has made a historic move by deploying its top-tier J-16 heavyweight fighter jets to Egypt for a joint training exercise

The two are expected to exchange views on bilateral ties and international and regional issues of common concern.

The Chinese president will attend the SCO summit in Bishkek, before travelling to Egypt.
