Police arrested Mock at her home in Wichita, Kansas, where her mother was found with multiple stab wounds to her face, neck, torso, and arms. Mock claimed her mother attacked her first while spewing venom and later told police officers she believed her mother was the devil. “I had to kill her, she wasn’t going to stop,” Mock said, per the affidavit, claiming her mother was “jealous” of a job opportunity that had come up.Mock's stepfather reported that she had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and had previously lost her journalism job following an alcohol-related incident.
