JEDDAH: Arab Australian novelist Yumna Kassab stakes out her new novel, “Goodbye, My Love,” in the unglamorous aftermath of an Arab woman choosing to walk away from her marriage. Based in Sydney, she was the inaugural Parramatta Laureate in Literature in 2024-2025, which culminated in a recently published nonfiction work exploring her personal connection to Parramatta. A high school teacher by profession, her books have been listed for prestigious literary prizes such as the Miles Franklin Literary Award, Prime Minister’s Literary Awards and the Stella Prize, among others.
