Blue Heron, Kentucky, once a bustling coal mining town, now stands as a silent monument. The Stearns Coal and Lumber Company operated mines there from 1937 until 1962. After abandonment, original buildings decayed, and the town was later re-created as an outdoor museum. New structures, called 'ghost structures,' stand on original sites and are themed by community life.
