No ethanol link, decline in sugarcane production and stockpiling driving up sugar price: Experts

Sugar prices have surged to ₹75-80 per kg in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar amid falling sugarcane production and heavy stockpiling by traders. Experts said the rise is driven by lower cane output, shorter crushing seasons and stockpiling, rather than diversion of sugar for ethanol production.
