Germany’s COBRA drone completes first flight, designed to carry IRIS-T missile

Germanys COBRA unmanned aircraft has completed its maiden flight as POLARIS Raumflugzeuge and Diehl Defence develop a reusable carrier for the IRIS-T missile. The 600-kg-plus platform is intended to extend the reach of fighters and ground-based air defences under the AirLAS concept. Diehl says the system could eventually support multi-domain missions, including maritime operations and potential long-range hypersonic applications.
