Govt tightens rules on combinations containing 2 chemical compounds for young children

The government has restricted fixed-dose combinations containing Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride. These medicines are now prohibited for use in children below four years of age. Manufacturers must clearly display a warning on all associated product packaging. This action follows recommendations from an expert committee and the Drugs Technical Advisory Board. The notification is effective from its publication date in the official gazette.
