The alleged 2022 ambush near a Los Angeles shopping mall targeted Bowman and resulted in the death of Bowman's cousin when gunmen fired at least 18 rounds into their vehicle. Banks was arrested in October 2024 near Miami International Airport while federal authorities say he was attempting to flee the country. If convicted on all counts, Banks faces a mandatory life sentence in federal prison as the trial begins with two alleged co-defendants.
