A Paris startup just recorded its first autonomous insect kill using a 1.4-ounce drone. Tornyol Systems built the quadcopter with ultrasonic sensors that map pest wingbeats in total darkness. It neutralizes targets mid-air using high-speed propellers. While engineered to eradicate disease-carrying mosquitoes, its historic first interception was actually a moth. Self-contained testing is currently in development.
