Bangladesh gets new President as BNP’s Mirza Fakhrul takes top post

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir secured 255 votes to become Bangladesh's 23rd President. He defeated Oli Ahmed, who received 88 votes in the parliamentary election. The election took place at the Jatiya Sangsad, the country's Parliament. Chief Election Commissioner ASM Nasir Uddin supervised the voting process. Alamgir was formally declared the newly elected President after the results were announced.
