UGC equity regulations 2026 under reconsideration: Centre to SC

The Supreme Court is hearing pleas challenging UGC equity regulations. The Centre informed the court that the 2026 regulations are under reconsideration. Previously, the apex court had kept these regulations in abeyance. The court sought a comprehensive counter affidavit from the UGC. The existing 2012 regulations will continue to operate until further orders.
