A judge on Thursday will consider whether to grant Texas teenager Karmelo Anthony a new trial following his murder conviction earlier this summer in the stabbing death of a 17-year-old athlete at a high school track meet.

Karmelo Anthony, 19, was convicted and sentenced to 35 years in prison in June for fatally stabbing a fellow student at a high school track meet.

The 19-year-old black man was convicted of murder for the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, a 17-year-old white athlete.
