The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the Eurocopter EC130 B4 went down at 9.13 am whilst travelling from the Loisaba Conservancy to Ewaso Nyiro in Samburu County, near the foothills of Mount Ololokwe. Owned by local business Lady Lori Helicopters, the charter flight was carrying guests on behalf of travel company &Beyond when it crashed in rugged terrain. Search and rescue operations were launched immediately, with safari operator Tropic Air Kenya dispatching two helicopters to aid multiagency response teams including the Kenya Red Cross. Samburu police commander David Nkoroi confirmed there were no survivors, and an official investigation has been initiated into the cause of the disaster while the identities of the victims have not yet been released.
