The US Democratic Party voted Saturday to prioritize minority-heavy states in its kick-off of 2028 presidential primaries, opening the nominating calendar in South Carolina and Nevada.

Iowa and New Hampshire officials have expressed disappointment in the proposed calendar, which has South Carolina’s primary first.

The DNC is expected to vote on Saturday to approve the new order of states for the 2028 presidential nominating process, amidst controversy over some of those decisions.
