South Carolina's Democratic presidential primary will take place on Jan. 22, 2028. Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Michigan and Virginia will also hold early Democratic nominating contests.

Iowa and New Hampshire officials have expressed disappointment in the proposed calendar, which has South Carolina’s primary first.

The DNC is expected to vote on Saturday to approve the new order of states for the 2028 presidential nominating process, amidst controversy over some of those decisions.
