India plans to establish 5-8 new semiconductor plants within 7-8 years, as announced by PM Modi during the nation's 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort.

With an outlay of over Rs 1.27 lakh crore India has launched the second phase of its ambitious semiconductor programme. Globally, a semiconductor supercycle is underway.
