Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort on the 80th Independence Day, the prime minister said India's semiconductor journey reflects its growing technological self-reliance. Recognising the strategic importance of chips, the prime minister said India has taken decisive steps towards self-reliance in semiconductors.

With an outlay of over Rs 1.27 lakh crore India has launched the second phase of its ambitious semiconductor programme. Globally, a semiconductor supercycle is underway.
