Sebi revises InvIT cash flow framework to allow adding back external debt-funded maintenance costs

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has introduced a significant update allowing Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) to re-include major maintenance debt specifically for road projects. This enhancement provides InvITs with increased flexibility to manage upkeep costs efficiently. Importantly, unitholder consent will be required for any new debt taken on for these maintenance purposes, with InvITs mandated to disclose all pertinent details regarding the debt and maintenance expenditures.
