Left-wing, highly educated white voters are trying to test the limits of the sorts of nuts they might get away with putting on the fall ballot.

Primary elections are taking place in six U.S. states on Tuesday — Alabama, Connecticut, Minnesota, South Carolina, Vermont and Wisconsin.

In Minnesota, progressive Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and moderate Democratic Rep. Angie Craig are competing for the nomination to replace the retiring Sen. Tina Smith.
