Produced to mark the university's centenary, it is the first UK-grown chocolate bar made since Rowntrees gifted one to the then-Princess Elizabeth in 1932. That was the only other bar of UK-grown chocolate ever made, making the late Queen the only person in history ever to eat one.Food security master's student Maha Khan crafted the chocolate using cocoa harvested from the university's International Cocoa Quarantine Centre. The Reading-based centre houses over 300 cocoa varieties and manages 97 per cent of global cocoa plant movements to prevent disease spread.
