A rare golden egg linked to Cadbury’s famous Creme Egg advertising campaign is heading to auction, bringing with it a remarkable story that stretches back more than four decades. The egg, known as ‘Cuckoo Cuckoo’, was one of 12 golden eggs hidden around the UK in 1983 as part of a nationwide treasure hunt based on the book ‘Conundrum: The Cadbury’s Creme Egg Mystery.’

A dozen certificates entitling the finder to a 250g decorative egg were buried across Britain in perspex caskets with handwritten notes on parchment for the 1983 contest.
