Cambridge to probe appointment of scandal-hit professor Jason Arday

Mr Arday, who became the university's youngest Black professor in 2023, resigned last week after allegations emerged regarding his PhD thesis and additional research. Vice-chancellor Professor Deborah Prentice described the case as an “aberration” and confirmed that a separate inquiry into Arday's academic qualifications will continue. Mr Arday has cancelled upcoming events promoting his memoir, Great And Unfortunate Things, which is scheduled for publication in August. The investigation comes amid scrutiny over additional claims made by Mr Arday, including that he ran 600 miles in six days and raising £5.5 million for charity.
