Residents living within 500 metres of new or upgraded overhead transmission lines could save up to £2,500 on their electricity bills over a 10-year period. Most eligible households will automatically receive the discount on their electricity bills every six months, starting in the first half of next year. The scheme applies to approved overground transmission projects where main construction work began on or after 10 March 2025.
