LONDON: The Syrian Arab Republic’s Tartous Port began commercial operations at Quay No. 4 on Tuesday, after the berth received its first vessel, expanding the port’s cargo-handling capacity and aiming to cut wait times for large ships. The vessel docked at the newly opened quay and began unloading after officials completed the handover of the berth, its facilities and adjacent storage yards, Syria’s state-run SANA news agency reported.
