Internet sensation Jackie the bald eagle dies of illness

Despite undergoing oxygen therapy and a blood transfusion, her health deteriorated, leading to her death on Monday. Since 2015, nature lovers worldwide tracked Jackie and her partner Shadow raising their chicks via a live feed managed by the Friends of Big Bear Valley. Conservationists said that Jackie's story symbolised the successful recovery of the bald eagle population in California following historical declines.
