He appeared in 71 episodes of Hill Street Blues between 1981 and 1987, playing a key role in the groundbreaking Emmy Award-winning police drama. His extensive career spanned screen and stage, including starring as Brigadier General Marcus Craig in Major Dad and Man-at-Arms in the 1987 film Masters of the Universe. Cypher also performed in several Broadway productions, made guest appearances in numerous hit television shows, and published a book of limericks in 2019. Jon Cypher, who starred in a TV version of "Cinderella" and starred in NBC’s "Hill Street Blues" and "Major Dad," has died.

On the big screen, he faced off against Burt Lancaster in ‘Valdez Is Coming’ and played Man-at-Arms in ‘Masters of the Universe’ opposite Dolph Lundgren.
