Four primary schools in Melksham, Calne, Warminster, and Chippenham have volunteered to take part in the initiative. Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras will monitor restricted roads, with exemptions for emergency services, blue badge holders, local residents, and businesses. Wiltshire Council introduced the scheme to improve safety, reduce congestion, and encourage families to walk, cycle, or scoot to school. The trial will run under Experimental Traffic Regulation Orders, allowing the public 18 months to share feedback before a decision is made on making it permanent.
