Parliament standoff continues despite Amit Shah’s statement offer; Lok Sabha adjourned

Parliamentary deadlock continued on August 10 as Opposition protests over the July 20 police crackdown on protesting students disrupted Lok Sabha proceedings. Congress MP K C Venugopal demanded a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah and said he had written to Speaker Om Birla seeking his presence in the House. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the government was ready for a full and detailed discussion but urged the Opposition not to disrupt the Home Minister’s statement. The Lok Sabha was adjourned till August 11, with the Monsoon Session set to conclude on August 13.
