FCC moves to ban LiDAR-equipped foreign drones from US — classifies the technology as "military-grade" in a proposal that could also hit thermal models and the swarms used in drone light shows

The FCC wants to ban DJI drones it already approved. LiDAR and thermal cameras are now "military-grade."

The FCC is proposing to retroactively ban DJI drones with LiDAR, thermal imaging, or aerosol systems, even models it previously approved. Comments open until September 2.
