Judge overturns sentence of man who stole socks due to magistrate's knowledge of his criminal record

The North West High Court has overturned the conviction of a man who was sentenced to 12 months for stealing socks worth R239.96, due to a judicial irregularity involving the magistrate's prior knowledge of his criminal record.
