IIT Gandhinagar develops import substitute for strategic aluminium alloy

IIT Gandhinagar researchers have developed a new high-strength aluminum alloy. This indigenous innovation aims to reduce India's reliance on imported strategic materials. The developed alloy offers superior strength and excellent corrosion resistance compared to existing options. Laboratory validation is complete, and industrial-scale testing for tubes is now underway. Technology transfer to the Indian aluminum industry is planned after successful validation.
