The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has been urged to subject the Nigerian Army's response in the case involving former soldier, Corporal Matilda Anighoro, to independent scrutiny, following what has been described as glaring contradictions between the Army's official claims and its own administrative records. On April 18, SaharaReporters reported that Anighoro raised an alarm over what she described as a plot by military authorities to arrest her, following a phone call she received from officials of the Army’s Special Investigation Bureau (SIB).
