As Jamaica marks its 64th anniversary of Independence today, citizens are being urged by the country’s leaders to embrace resilience, unity and a renewed commitment to nation-building. In their Independence Day messages, Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen, Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness and Leader of the Opposition Mark Golding each highlighted the country's achievements since 1962, acknowledged the challenges facing the nation, and called for Jamaicans at home and in the Diaspora to play their part in shaping the country's future.
