NEW DELHI: International inbound travel to India may remain well below pre-Covid high of over a crore seen in 2019, domestic travel is booming and keeping this overall industry alive here. ITC Hotels and ITC chairman Sanjiv Puri on Thursday said “domestic tourism has surged to over 4 billion domestic visits, significantly up from the pre-pandemic level of around 2.3 billion.” And “domestic visitor spending is expected to nearly double, from Rs 19 trillion in 2026 to Rs 36.5 trillion by 2036.”
