Gautam Gupta has joined Travis Kalanick's autonomous technology startup Atoms as chief financial officer. Gupta's association with Kalanick dates back to 2012, when he worked on Uber's Series B investment. After leaving Uber, Gupta co-founded venture capital firm A* Ventures with Kevin Hartz. Discussions with Kalanick about Atoms convinced Gupta to return to an operating role. Atoms is developing autonomous machines for various industries, focusing on productivity and safety.

Kalanick continues to get the band back together, after acquiring Anthony Levandowski's autonomy startup, and even soliciting investment from Uber itself.
