Fireball erupts at chemical factory as blaze prompts evacuations

A chemical plant in Brazil erupted into a huge fireball, with nearby residents forced to evacuate. On Tuesday (4 August), a huge blaze ripped through a factory in the Sao Paulo metropolitan area, with footage showing thick plumes of black smoke rising into the air. The Sao Paulo Fire Department dispatched 30 vehicles and 60 personnel to combat the interfero at Quema Quimica, a manufacturer of solvents and polyester resins. Around 150 nearby residents were forced to leave their homes, whilst elecricty was cut in the immediate area. Sao Paulo’s military fire brigade confirmed that there were “no record of victims so far”.
