WP MPs urged the government to consider minimum retrenchment benefits and unemployment insurance, while Minister of State Dinesh Vasu Dash said the government’s economic blueprint already makes similar recommendations.

"This is our attempt to answer the pressing questions of the day and to write our own economic playbook," said WP MP Kenneth Tiong.

The debate centred on whether Singapore should rebalance its economic strategy to place greater emphasis on homegrown enterprises.
