The route spans 1,546km (960 miles) across the regions Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Marche, Tuscany, and Umbria. It honours St Francis of Assisi, coinciding with the 800th anniversary of his death.The path incorporates existing trails and allows walkers to visit 22 Franciscan destinations, such as the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso.
