The US Department of Health and Human Services plans to award up to $150 million to Houston-based Burke Law Group to provide legal representation for unaccompanied migrant children in federal custody, as the Office of Refugee Resettlement continues to handle tens of thousands of such cases each year.

The firm, Houston-based Burke Law Group has only two attorneys who specialize in immigration and asylum cases. Two of its founders have ties to the Trump administration.

The Trump administration is set to award a $150 million contract to a Texas law firm without immigration expertise to represent migrant children in custody.
