J&K: Mehbooba Mufti, National Conference protest in Srinagar; Demand Article 370 restoration

Seven years after the abrogation of Article 370, the political debate over Jammu and Kashmir’s special status remains alive. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti staged a protest in Srinagar, demanding restoration of J&K’s special status. The National Conference also protested, with party leaders calling August 5 a “black day” and demanding restoration of Article 370 and statehood. The protests come as August 5 marks the 2019 revocation of Article 370 and the subsequent reorganisation of the erstwhile state into the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
