Proposal sent for in-principle approval of scheme for modernisation of police forces: Centre to Supreme Court

A proposal for police modernisation has been sent for approval. Existing CCTV funding for police stations is extended until March 2027. The Supreme Court is monitoring progress on functional police station CCTVs. The Centre provides significant funding for CCTV installation in states. The court previously mandated CCTVs to prevent human rights abuses.
