It is the cheapest airline, so travellers are used to corners being cut. But Jetstar’s latest move is a new low.

The low-cost carrier says weighing passengers’ bags is slowing down the boarding process, contributing to delays.

The airline will also begin charging a fee for guaranteed access to overhead bins, but is increasing its in-cabin weight allowance.

Jetstar Australia will start charging passengers for the use of overhead luggage bins from February next year.
