Montgomery undertook the six-week journey, named One Last Ride, with his grandson Tom Malcom, travelling from Broome to his home in Bowral. The ride was part of his dedicated effort to raise funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease New South Wales. He successfully raised £104,965 during this final ride, contributing to a total of almost £300,000 across six charity bike rides.
