Court fines Ed Sheeran for mistake during classic Aston Martin restoration

The DVLA identified the lack of insurance on December 17 last year, despite the car being inoperable and off public roads at Aston Workshop Ltd since 2021. Sheeran was convicted of keeping a motor vehicle which does not meet insurance requirements and ordered to pay a £666 fine, £100 in costs, and a £266 victim surcharge. He submitted a letter to Bradford Magistrates’ Court, explaining he genuinely believed the workshop’s comprehensive insurance policies covered the vehicle and that he never received an initial out-of-court fine offer. The case was handled via the Single Justice Procedure on Friday July 31, with Sheeran being among 1,451 people convicted last week for similar offences across England and Wales.
