The Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) has received limited response from central government employees, with only 1.18 lakh workers opting for it by July 19, accounting for 4.3% of NPS subscribers. Introduced in April 2025 after demands for assured pensions, UPS offers a 50% pension guarantee, gratuity benefits and minimum monthly payout of ₹10,000. The government extended the opt-in deadline to November 30, 2025.
